Born and raised in Port Alberni, B.C., Frank Allen began his business career in 1971 as the youngest Licensed Realtor in Victoria with Canada Permanent Trust at age 23.
In 1973 he began working in the life insurance and financials services industry working with small business owners and retirees, quickly moving into a management position with the firm in Victoria.
In 1979, he moved with his family to Nanaimo to establish an independent Financial Services Brokerage which has evolved into the Frank Allen Financial Group Inc.
Frank's designations in the Financial Services Field include the Chartered Life Underwriter, (CLU), the Chartered Financial Consultant, (CHFC), and the Certified Financial Planner, (CFP). He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Life Underwriters of Canada, The Financial Planners Standards Council of Canada and Advocis (formerly the Life Underwriters Association of Canada).
He has been very active in the business community of Central Vancouver Island since 1979 and served consecutive terms as President of the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce in 1993 and 1994, and remains a member of the Membership Committee. The firm is a member of the Nanaimo, Ladysmith, Parksville, Qualicum and Alberni Valley Chambers of Commerce.
Frank is a member of the Rotary Club of Nanaimo North and served as its President for the year 2003/2004.
He was a founding member of the Board of the Malaspina University College Foundation and is currently a member of the Nanaimo Hospital Foundation Planned Giving Committee. Frank and his wife Cathy live in Nanaimo, have been married for 35 years and have 3 daughters and 8 grandchildren.
His hobbies include woodworking, gardening, cooking, fishing, traveling, skiing and windsurfing.
Carrying on the Family Business tradition, Kari is Frank Allen's youngest daughter and has been with the firm since 1996. She holds a life insurance license and focuses on Employee Benefits. Kari handles all administration for the Chamber of Commerce Group Insurance Plan and is always there to answer your questions. In fact, one of her favourite parts of this job is meeting with employee groups to help them understand how their plans work. Kari grew up in Nanaimo loves to take advantage of its natural beauty. She and her husband Jason can regularly be found hiking the trails or walking the beaches. She also has a strong interest in health; teaching yoga and working toward a designation as a Holistic Nutritionist.
Originally from South Africa, Gillian came to Canada with her husband Richard in 1994. Gillian is the mother of triplets and is a proud Grandmother of 4.
Gillian joined the Frank Allen Financial Group in 1999. Licensed in the Life Insurance area, Gillian focuses on Life Insurance and Critical Illness for our clients. She handles all the administration for Life, Disability and Critical Illness. Gillian and Kari are the group benefits specialist team in the office and handle all the day to day business of group benefits.
In her spare time, Gillian loves to garden and spend time outdoors exploring the trails Nanaimo has to offer.
Margaret started working with Frank Allen Financial Group in 1990 and currently acts as Office Manager as well as administering all Money and Investment products. Margaret is a licensed life insurance agent and has been certified with The Investment Funds Institute of Canada since 1998.
She enjoys gardening and exploring the great natural beauty of Vancouver Island.
